The Zimbabwe Defense Forces have renounced their involvement in the press statement released on May 16th, which claimed that the ZDF was monitoring the country’s economic situation and commenting on the arrest of money changers.

“The Zimbabwe Defence Forces advises the public to dismiss the false message circulating on social media with the contempt it deserves,” the statement reads.

“The responsibility and jurisdiction of Zimbabwe Defence Forces are provided for in the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No.20) 2013 section 212 which states that the function of the Defence Forces is to protect Zimbabwe, its national interests and territorial integrity and to uphold the Constitution,” added the statement

The statement released on May 16th claimed that ZDF supports the arrest of Neville Mutsvangwa.
