ZANU PF activist Rutendo Matinyarare has come to the defence of a Nust student arrested for tribal comments on social media.
Taking to X, Rutendo said Tanaka Ryan Sizo did not say anything illegal that can lead to a warrant of arrest.
Tanaka a final year Civil and Water Engineering student appeared in court on Thursday to answer for charges of causing offence to persons of a particular race.
He was remanded in custody to 2 April when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Maxwell Ncube
Rutendo said: “having Tanaka appear in front of one Nbebele Magistrate: Maxwell Ncube was prejudicial in a country riddled with tribalism.”
He added that much worse hate is spread on social media by Ndebeles towards Shona’s but such draconian consequences have never been implemented.
