The CEO of one of Nigeria’s largest banks, Herbert Wigwe along with his wife and son, were among six people killed in a Helicopter crash on Friday night near Baker in San Bernardino County.

His death was confirmed by Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, director general of the World Trade Organization, in a post on X.

The helicopter took off from Palm Springs Airport around 8:45 p.m. and was en route to Boulder City, Nevada.

It was a charter flight operated by Orbic Air LLC. Several people traveling on the 15 Freeway witnessed the crash and called 911.

Herbert Wigwe was the CEO of Access Bank. He was widely seen as an industry leader, having been involved in two of the country’s biggest banks, including Guaranty Trust Bank.
