The Zimbabwe Republic Police has banned the Movement for Democratic Change peaceful demostrations that were staged to take place tomorrow at Robert Mugabe Square in Harare.

In a statement, police said the opposition party did not comply with Section 7 (2) of the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act Chapter 11:23.

The purpose of the demonstration was to demand electoral reforms in Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, The MDC said the ban is a clear example of the closure of democratic space in Zimbabwe.
