Prominent journalist Hopewell Chin’ono is mourning the passing of one of his dogs popularly known as Ambassador Shabba.

Chin’ono said Shabba stopped eating and a vet was called to administer an injection however it passed on shortly after that.

He shared the last picture of Shabba before he died, describing him as an extremely loyal dog.

It became famous on social media when part of its body was in a picture of Nelson Chamisa and Chin’ono and ZANUPF people mistakenly thought it was a leg of a Western ambassador joining them for a meeting.

He said:

Saddened with the passing of my dog, Shabba. It stopped eating yesterday, the vet came and gave it an injection. Unfortunately it died this afternoon. This is the last picture taken today before it died.

It became famous on social media when part of its body was in a picture of Nelson Chamisa and myself, and ZANUPF propagandists mistakenly thought it was a leg of a Western ambassador having a meeting with us.

My followers christened it, Ambassador Shabba. Dogs are loyal creatures, and Shabba was extremely loyal. I will miss him, and his brother Buju will probably miss him more than all of us because they were playing partners.
