President Emmerson Mnangagwa says Zimbabwe will not allow partisan election observers to take part in the 23 August elections.

Speaking at a Miners for Economic Development (Miners4ED) convention in Gweru, Mnangagwa said some observers have already come up with measures to cause chaos in the elections.

“We are a peaceful, united and democratic country. The most democratic country in the world. No single foreign country can teach us democracy because we fought for it and we can entrench it,” said Mnangagwa.

The European Union (EU) accepted Zimbabwe’s invite to observe the country’s elections.

Mnangagwa added: “We fought for democracy because we wanted democracy. So who are you to then come today intending to teach us democracy? We fought for democracy and we are enjoying democracy and we shall entrench it.”
