The Zimbabwe Passenger Company is a about to collapse as private operators contracted to provide buses have abandoned the state owned public transporter over failed to meet its obligations.

Private operators have been providing ZUPCO companies with buses but contractual obligations has forced some private operators to withdraw.

Private operators were banned from operating during the COVID-19 period and were allowed to operate again in May this year. The return of privates transporters have made ZUPCO struggle to maintain its dominance in routes.
