A Karoi magistrate Amanda Muridzo has been sentenced to one year in jail for allegedly accepting a $20 bribe in order to rule for a defended in a maintainance court.

Amanda (31) was charged together with  clerk of court Shelter Kachira and David Mazowi who paid the bribe.

Muridzo and Kachira were each sentenced to 18 months in prison and six months were set aside on condition that they dont repeat a similar offence in the next five years.

The court heard that on 27 August, 2018 Mazowi’s ex wife Sinafi Chidoko claimed $250 maintanance for her two children after she seperated with their father.

Kachira and Mazowi connived with Muridzo to influence court findings. Chidoko received a tip-off from an enonymous caller who told her how the maintainance court was being handled.
