Zambia President Hakainde Hichilema, yesterday met the new World Bank Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa, Ms Victoria Kwakwa and her team at State House.

Hichilema congratulated her on the appointment as VP and reaffirmed his intentions to work closely with the World Bank to unlock Zambia’s potential and also help resolve the debt question.

He said:

We thanked the World Bank for its continued support in various projects and most recently for approving the US$155 Million scaling up Shock Responsive Social Protection Project, and the US$210 million Zambia Devolution Support Project.

We reinforced our long-held view that the World Bank is not a foreign entity, for Zambia is a shareholder and partner with the institution in our nation’s transformation process and development agenda.
