South Africa Health Minister Joe Phaahla has confirmed that a case of monkeypox has been detected in the country.
The patient was a 30-year-old male from Johannesburg who had no travel history.
There has been an outbreak of the virus in various countries around the world.
The World Health Organization will decide on Thursday whether to declare monkeypox a global health emergency.
