South African Home affairs minister, Aaron Motsoaledi, has revealed that South Africa is establishing a stand alone Border Management Authority chaired by 9 ministers to deal with Zimbabweans who cross into South Africa illegally.

Speaking to the SABC Motsoaledi said the new agency has already acquired over 15 high end Range Rovers to patrol the Beitbridge border between Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Motsoaledi said one of the jobs that the deputy commissioners are busy with is to finalise the laws and the proclamations so that in 2023, there will be a separate entity that is not a branch in Home affairs.

200 border guards are already being interviewed who will be using the 15 Range Rovers. 1000 uniforms that have already been bought and are being branded.

Motsoaledi warned Zimbabweans that the days of crossing into South Africa without passports and smuggling illegal cigarettes’ are over as border management is being strengthened.
