South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, is said to be unhappy after the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), issued a hard hitting statement calling for Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukraine.

The newspaper said the statement was approved by International relations Minister, Naledi Pandor and Ramaphosa did not see it before it was issued.

A source told the newspaper that there are people within DIRCO with an agenda that “we must be enemies with Russia” .

A presidency insider said Ramaphosa and Putin speak often, but the two are yet to discuss the war in Ukraine.

“There is a big possibility of Ramaphosa being brought in by Putin as part of the interventions.”
