The Founding Director of Nurture Investment Growth, Uchi Gappah has passed away.

His untimely passing has been confirmed by Fadzayi Mahere.

 

Mahere and other public figures took to social media to mourn Uchi.

“Uchi was a perfect gentleman who always held big dreams & boundless hope for a prosperous Zimbabwe. He threw all his energies to playing his part & offering his expertise where needed. A flame blown out far too soon. 

Deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. 

Rest easy, bro.🙏🏽,” posted Mahere.

Uchi held a Bachelor of Business Science (Actuarial Science) from the University of Cape Town.

 

Before founding Nurture, Uchi was part of the executive management as Head of Research for Sygnia Asset Management, a South African domiciled asset management company.

 

At Sygnia, Uchi was responsible for quantitative and qualitative research and manager due diligence for a pool of assets that exceeded $10bn in a universe that included both private and public equities, hedge funds as well as other traditional asset classes for both domestic and international markets.

 

Prior to joining Sygnia, Uchi worked at Clade Asset Management, where he was also Head of Research and also a portfolio manager for a fund of hedge funds and a fixed income fund.

 

Uchi served on the boards of various Nurture portfolio companies and is a trustee of the Nurture Education Trust.
