Panic has gripped the South Africa State Security ageny9 (SSA) after their remote head office was penetrated by an intruder on 21 January 2022.

City Press reports that security procedures at the heavily guarded, remote, expansive complex were upgraded on the 24th of January after the incident, which was kept under wraps for weeks.

The suspect was reportedly found by cleaners in a building called Rhulani which is used for meetings, workshops, conferences and also houses the staff cafeteria.

The newspaper said security at the Masunda complex could be easily compromised and anyone could smuggle in a person in the boot of their car as each staff member used their own access card to gain entry.

There was no information on the gender of the suspect. The incident comes as infighting intensified in the SSA over 19 people that are set to be deployed to foreign posts and the re-appointment of retired agents.

SSA spokesman, Mava Scott, refused to comment.
