Warriors midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has been ruled out of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next month after suffering from an injury.

Nakamba picked up a knee injury while featuring for his club Aston Villa in a match against Liverpool on Saturday.

There are fears he could miss the rest of the Premier League campaign.

Villa manager Steven Gerrard revealed that a specialist will be required to determine the extent of the injury.

“We sent him for an MRI scan and the news that has come back is not good.

“The idea is to send him to a specialist on Tuesday and we’ll then know more about the damage and what we’ll need to do going forward.”

He was assessed yesterday and will be examined further in the next two days.
