Self exiled former minister Patrick Zhuwao says the late Robert Mugabe, was tormented in his final days.

Speaking to City Press, Zhuwao said the Mnangagwa regime wanted to kill Mugabe however realised that killing the ousted leader would result in a huge fallout.

Zhuwao said, they resorted to using local TV stations to air content that was meant to “weigh him down mentally”.

“The old man loved watching news on television. However, since his unceremonious ousting from power in a coup in 2017, most of his former allies had turned against him and were uttering obscenities against him on a regular basis, something that scarred him immensely.

“For his own peace of mind, he decided to leave the country,” said Zhuwao.

Zhuwawo said Mugabe only spent five days in hospital in Singapore thus contradicting the narrative that Mugabe had been seeking treatment 8 in Singapore for the past five months.

Zhuwawo said: “We owe an immense debt of gratitude to Grace for caring for the former president. What she did for Mugabe”.

The 95 year-old had to be helped with a number of things including bathing, feeding etcetera.
