Zimbabwe’s first black governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Dr Kombo Moyana has died.

Kombo, 78, succumbed to Covid-19.

Burial arrangements are not yet known.

Kombo suceeded Desmond Krogh who was governor between 1979 and 1983.

Moyana headed the apex bank for a decade between 1983 and 1993 after his appointment by the then Prime Minister, Robert Mugabe.

After some years outside of public office, Kombo Moyana was appointed as chair of the sovereign wealth fund, a board set up with the drive to ensure the financing of ZimAsset.
