The Deputy National Chairman of the Movement for Democratic Change, Job Sikhala has been denied bail.

The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights posted the news on social media saying he will appear in court on February 18.

It is reported that the Harare magistrate Nduna said Sikhala should wait for commencement of trial while in prison custody.

Sikhala, also a lawyer, was part of the legal team representing freelance journalist Hopewell Chin’ono who was arrested last week.

The two are being charged with communicating falsehoods through tweeting that a junior police officer had killed a baby with a baton stick earlier during the week.
