The eye catching Kazungula Bridge linking Zambia and Botswana is set to change lives as truck drivers will no longer spend days or weeks to cross over between Zambia and Botswana.

The bridge is almost one kilometres long and 20 metres wide. The bridge also has a railway line which links Mtsetse and Kazungula lines.

Before the Japanese Funding Agency and The African Development Bank funded the construction of the bridge. Truck drivers used to spend almost a week waiting for a turn to cross over to zambia or Botswana.

The ferries carry only one truck at a time and this delayed many drivers who were in a hurry to deliver goods either side.

Some ferries were too old and a lot of incidents involving capsized ferries and trucks was a common feature.

Meanwhile, the bridge will also contribute to fast movement cross boarder trade as it links countries which include DRC, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

Kazungula bridge also links the Victoria Falls from both Zambia and Zimbabwe with the Chobe National Park in Botswana.
