MDC Alliance vice chairman,  Job Sikhala, today urged the United Nations to pass a resolution and intervene in Zimbabwe.

Sikhala was speaking to members of the media at the Media Centre today, where he held a press conference together with Transform Zimbabwe President Jacob Ngarivhume.

Sikhala said that the UN has every right to intervene in the Zimbabwean crisis. “We call upon the United Nations in terms of Chapter 7,particularly article 42 and 43 that allows United Nations security forces to intervene in countries with serious humanity crisis.

“The United Nations must exercise these powers because Zimbabwe has recorded a high number of abductions, touture, human rights violations and breach of serious international crimes,”he said.

He added that the crisis in Zimbabwe can not be allowed to escalate because it has dangers of spilling over into the other regions.
