Journalist Hopewell Chinono will remain in custody up to the 18th of August after his bail hearing has been set aside as the State filed an application against Mtetwa.
Prosecutor Mabhaudhi filed an application on Thursday with Harare Magistrate Ngoni Nduna seeking to bar Beatrice Mtetwa from representing jailed journalist Hopewell Chin’ono accusing the top lawyer of professional misconduct.
Chin’ono’s lawyer said the state alleges Mtetwa has been posting Hopewell Chin’ono court case proceedings on Beatrice Mtetwa and the Rule of Law Facebook page.
Chinono’s laywer said magistrate Nduna is expected to make a ruling Tuesday on whether Mtetwa should proceed or be removed from Chin’ono’s legal counsel.
She added that Chin’ono has been surviving on biscuits and water because they have not yet been granted authority to provide him with warm food while in custody.
