National Patriotic Front spokesperson Jealousy Mawarire says the military is in control of Zimbabwe’s political affairs not Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Speaking to SABC, Mawarire said the affairs of the country are run from KG6 military barrack hence one can say the army is in total control of Zimbabwe.

Mawarire said soldiers are being given special appointments to monitor the affairs of the country thus the nation is now in the hands of the army not Mnangagwa.

Mawarire said the continuous use of the military is a move to stifle dissent and political opponents who did not side with the November 2017 coup.

Mawarire said there is too much politicization of the military in Zimbabwe, in 2008 when ZANU PF was losing the presidential election, the late Robert Mugabe, the then justice minister Emmerson Mnangagwa and General Chiwenga engaged the army to subvert the will of the people during elections.

In 2017 Mnangagwa and Chiwenga used the military to intervene in an internal party dispute within ZANU PF resulting in the removal of Robert Mugabe.

He said people who have tried to expose the ills of the government such as corruption, bad government and dying health sector have been met with harassment and torture by the military and police.

Speaking on the humanitarian crisis in Zimbabwe, Mawarire said, Ramaphosa sent the special envoy to Zimbabwe to meet with ZANU PF only in a bid to prevent the political situation in Zimbabwe being tabled in the United Nations security council

Mawarire added that If the problem in Zimbabwe was just an economic crisis Ramaphosa could have activated the bi-national commission which last met in May 2019 to engage with Mnangagwa to find solutions to the economic crisis.
