ZANU PF is a party that does not have a clear succession strartegy .
Retired general and current co vice president Constantino Chiwenga has been ill for too long in China. He is incapacitated but ED Mnangagwa is playing his cards close not willing to replace him because of high levels of tension in ZANU PF at the moment.
Energy Mutodi ED Mnangagwa’ s ally is the most preferred candidate by ED Mnangagwa. Mnangagwa is worried by Mutodi’ s lack of clear political experience and diplomacy. The youth will support the appointment of Mutodi to replace retired general Chiwenga.
War veterans and ZANU PF stalwarts will never support Mutodi ‘ s appointment as vice president. Mutodi is the only one in Zimbabwe currently who has the freedom of speech. He lied against Joyce Mujuru to make sure she was removed from vice presidency ‘position in 2014. He is a dark horse that can romp to power overnight
In the event that general Chiwenga dies , the military will support their own. The current preferred candidate of the military is retired major general Anselem Sanyatwe. He is the former presidential guard leader.
ZANU PF itself has no candidate but ED Mnangagwa himself and the military have those two to choose from . ED Mngangagwa will bow down to military presure to appoint Sanyatwe.
