Virginia Mabiza represented Zimbabwe at the Geneva Conference For Human Rights. Virginia Mabhiza is currently in Geneva, Switzerland, representing Zimbabwe at the 61st Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (running from 23 February to 31 March 2026). She was selected to lead the Zimbabwean delegation after Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi stayed in Zimbabwe to oversee constitutional amendment consultations. Her official address follows a highly critical speech at the Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy (an NGO-led forum) by Zimbabwean journalist Blessed Mhlanga. Mabhiza’s office has since dismissed Mhlanga’s claims of state repression and “lawfare” as malicious.

Mawere’s upmarket house – 62 Cambridge Road, Bryanston – is being sold under his insolvent estate. Mawere died aged 66. The monthly bond repayment for the house is R58 898 and monthly rates are R7 686.99. The total once-off costs are R612 865, while the minimum gross monthly income required is R196 328. The house measures 5 098m2. It was listed for auction on February 11 and will go under the hammer on February 25 at 11am.
