On Heroes Day, Mai Jeremaya used the occasion to highlight the fight against sexual violence, declaring herself “a hero who died for this country by speaking out.”
In a heartfelt social media post, she wrote that no woman deserves to be “forced, coerced, cornered or trapped into having non-consensual intercourse,” even within marriage.
She urged survivors to speak out regardless of the stigma or disbelief they may face, saying, “Even if they call you crazy, as long as you expose the perpetrator, you are doing the right thing.”
She ended her message with: “Happy Heroes Day ❤️🙏.”
