UK-based Zimbabwean influencer and businesswoman Olinda Chapel-Nkomo has been dealt a major legal blow after the Reading Employment Tribunal ruled in favor of Amber Stoter, a former employee who accused Olinda’s husband, Tytan Nkomo, of sexual impropriety in the workplace.
According to a report by the UK Daily Mail, Stoter alleged that she was subjected to inappropriate and sexually suggestive remarks from Tytan including being called his “property” and referred to as his “girlfriend.”
In one instance, after posting a photo with the caption “working hard in the sun,” Tytan allegedly responded with the message, “That’s not the only thing you make go hard.”
Following her complaint, Stoter says she was “ambushed” into a disciplinary meeting with Olinda and terminated just 48 hours later. Representing herself at the tribunal, Stoter argued that the dismissal was retaliation for speaking up about the alleged misconduct.
The tribunal agreed, finding that Mrs. Chapel-Nkomo fired Ms. Stoter because she viewed the complaint against her husband as ‘problematic’ a decision the court deemed unfair and unlawful.
