Flamboyant businessman and philanthropist Wicknel Chivhayo has once again made headlines this time for showering gospel music power couple Mambo and Mai Dhuterere with lavish gifts, including two brand new Toyota Fortuners and a combined USD $150,000 cash gift.

Posting on his social media platform under the familiar “Hallo Friday” banner, Chivhayo praised the couple for their contribution to Zimbabwe’s gospel music landscape, particularly for revolutionizing “nziyo dzemapositori” and spreading messages of hope and unity across political and spiritual divides.

However, his message carried more than celebration it also addressed persistent social media rumours of marital strain between the Dhutereres, including allegations that they were living apart and that Mambo Dhuterere once claimed Mai Dhuterere brought him “bad luck” after he did not receive a car gift from Chivhayo.

“I wish to set the record straight,” Chivhayo wrote. “I only held back from giving you a car because you publicly stated you were not eager to get one from me. I simply respected your position.”

In a gesture of reconciliation and support, Chivhayo emphasized the important role Mai Dhuterere has played in the couple’s success and publicly encouraged them to rebuild their union. “You are always better together. Your unity has been part of your testimony,” he added.

Referencing his own experience with a broken marriage, Chivhayo struck a reflective tone, urging the Dhutereres to prioritize family and faith. “None of us are perfect… but with God, all things are possible.”
