Prominent Zimbabwean journalist and activist Hopewell Chinono has publicly accused Walter Magaya, the founder of PHD Ministries, of being a “conman” and a “fake prophet.”
This accusation comes amid ongoing controversy regarding Magaya’s claims of graduating from the University of South Africa (UNISA), which the institution has denied.
In a recent social media post, Chinono expressed his disdain for Magaya, stating, “It has now emerged that the Zimbabwean religious conman and fake prophet, Walter Magaya, did not even attend a UNISA graduation. It was all staged and bogus!”
Chinono further criticized the environment surrounding Magaya, commenting on the company he keeps, suggesting that “birds of a feather flock together.” This as he shared an image of Magaya with President Mnangagwa.
He emphasized that the presidency should not be perceived as a “laughing stock” both locally and internationally, suggesting that the controversies surrounding figures like Magaya contribute to a negative perception of Zimbabwe’s governance.
