In a startling revelation, businessman Maxwell Sangulani Chikumbutso stands accused of importing a vehicle and presenting it to President Emmerson Mnangagwa as an original electric model, sparking controversy and concerns over the integrity of government interactions with private enterprises.
Reports allege that Chikumbutso purchased a vehicle that closely resembles the Kaiyi X3 Pro EV and presented it to Mnangagwa at the State House, claiming it was a unique electric model.
However, investigations suggest that the engine and specifications are identical to the existing model, with no modifications made to distinguish it as a new offering.
The allegation has raised eyebrows among the public, who view it as part of a troubling trend of questionable dealings in Zimbabwe’s business landscape.
