In a heartfelt letter which was shared online, addressed to fellow cricketers, Tendai Chatara has publicly apologized for comments made in a leaked audio recording that has sparked widespread criticism within the cricket community.

Chatara, a prominent figure in Zimbabwean cricket, expressed deep remorse for his “poor judgment” following what he described as a “few drinks.” He stated that the audio recording, which has been circulating on platforms like WhatsApp, does not represent his true feelings and that he takes full responsibility for the hurt caused.

“I deeply regret my poor judgment in that moment, particularly after having a few drinks. I also regret the reputational damage this may cause to us as individuals and to Zimbabwe Cricket as an organization. This was never my intention, and I take full responsibility for my actions,” Chatara wrote.

The cricketer emphasized his commitment to supporting his teammates and contributing positively to the sport in Zimbabwe. He acknowledged the accomplishments of his fellow players and expressed his admiration for their hard work and dedication.

Mr. Mutendera and Mr. Chigumbura, the recipients of the letter, were particularly highlighted for their contributions to the sport, with Chatara expressing immense respect for their roles .
