Football association reaffirms support for media freedom and vows to uphold professionalism within national teams
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has issued an apology following an incident involving Warriors forward Tinotenda Kadewere and sports journalist Yvonne Mangunda during an open training session at Orlando Stadium.
The altercation, which occurred in the presence of media and team officials, sparked concern over the treatment of journalists covering the national team. In a statement, ZIFA expressed regret over the incident and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding media freedom within the football environment.
“ZIFA strongly condemns any form of abuse towards the media. Journalists are a vital part role of the game, and we are committed to ensuring a safe and respectful working environment for all members of the press,” the association said.
Kadewere has since apologized to Mangunda, with both parties reportedly reaching a mutual understanding. ZIFA confirmed that the matter is being addressed through internal processes by both team management and the association.
The football body emphasized its responsibility in promoting professionalism and respectful conduct within the national team setup.
