Former CCC President, Nelson Chamisa, yesterday appeared before the Harare commission of enquiry into corruption at the Harare City Council. Chamisa told Tabani Mpofu that:
– Denied knowing the councillor who was recorded claiming that Chamisa had given a directive for councillors to fast track the establishment of councillors.
– Said he is an individual and CCC had over 2000 councillors and he does not know all of them.

2. Rusape Prisoner, Luckson Marowa, got out of jail to find his wife, Plaxedes Mushayavanhu, already married to another man. He was serving a 7 year sentence. Luckson was arrested for transporting stolen goods and was sentenced to 10 years in jail. Plaxedes’s mother Esther Masunga said she will go on a fasting an prayer to deal with Luckson who she said is harassing her.
3. Botswana plunged into a financial crisis after Duma Boko’s Umbrella Democratic Party has to find P290 million to pay over 43 000 university students allowances or grants. This comes as the economy is not performing and the budget is under pressure. The Botswana budget is facing a USD 1 Billion shortfall this year.
4. Botswana has been hit by a liquidity crisis forcing the Bank of Botswana to allow banks to access P2,1 Billion of their own funds. The bank has reduced the Reserve ratio from 2,5 to zero. This comes as there has been sharp decline of inflows from diamonds which have reduced from P25 Billion to P8 Billion..
5. The amount of liquidity in Botswana has reduced from P20 Billion to P1 Billion as the Botswana government if financing all its activities from local borrowing which is now t P55 Billion from P30 Billion.
