The Parliament of Zimbabwe issued a press release apologizing to the President and the nation as a whole for the power outage that happened just after the presentation of financial budget.
In the press release they explained that the power outage was due to electricity lines being affected by thunderstorm and heavy winds which led to loss of power in the New Parliament and surrounding areas.
They also cleared that a standby generator was available however could not switch on automatically as it was affected hence they had to switch it on 5minutes after the outage.
This outage that happened led people to be critical of the systems set with some making fun of the situation saying the power outages in Zimbabwe indeed need a PHD.
6million was used in the construction of the New Parliament and this outage had led people to ask why such a structure doesn’t have back up system.
