Fawcett security guards reportedly lost US$20 000 to strangers after offering them a lift in a cash-in-transit van along Masvingo-Beitbridge road.
Police have launched an investigation and four guards are being interviewed following the bizarre theft.
The guards are Brine Matsena, 30, Benny Nyambi, 52, Confidence Tapiwa Chekero, 27, and Jefitha Chipo Chipfunde, 42.
They offered two people a lift against company protocols.
The two passengers sat in the cargo section of the Isuzu KB250, which also contained a cash box the crew was transporting.
Police say the female passenger dropped off at Rutenga, before the male disembarked at Ngundu.
