ZANU-PF spokesman Christopher Mutsvangwa has spoken to Citizens Voice network about succession in ZANU-PF. Mutsvangwa said if ZANU-PF could form a national army, that is the most formidable challenge that a country could face. Everything else is mince-meat.

Speaking on succession, Mutsvangwa said he is not pre-occupied with being a President of Zimbabwe, but is more concerned about the contribution that he can make to the development of the country.

Key Points:

  1. Zimbabwe to restore central Mozambique as the gateway to international markets. There will be more reliance on Beira.
  2. There was no need to invest in rail for a long time as Zimbabwe relied on the west for financing and they were not willing to invest in rail.
  3. Zimbabwe is going to be focusing on infrastructure and this will increase trade with neighbouring countries.
  4. Generally the wrong polices under Mugabe killed the export of chrome and decimated the mining industry.
  5. Mutsvangwa said he is the one who has worked hard to put in place the steel plant at Manhizhe.
  6. The ZIG is a product of young people digging for gold in Zimbabwe. The more we dig for gold the more the ZIG gets stronger.
  7. The issue of human rights in Zimbabwe is being pushed by those who don not like a liberation  movement in Zimbabwe.
  8. The activists that were arrested were mischief makers.
  9. Now that the show is over, why do we continue to be occupied with mischief makers.
  10. People like Job Sikhala never accepted that Zimbabwe can run a democracy. They are trying to get the attention of the west.
  11. Job Sikhala was trying to organise an upraising. He was becoming a Genaral Tongogara, that is why he was in a ceiling.
  12. Jameson Timba and the arrested activists….
  13. ZANU-PF marches are done with order otherwise there would have been chaos in the country. ZANU-PF, with its organisational capacity, if they had been doing what the opposition is doing…..
  14. ZANU-PF is allowed to protest because they do not threaten the laws of the country. You can not have a lawless country.
  15. The state should make it possible for citizens to do their business without disruption.
  16. The war veterans belong to ZANU-PF.
  17. The government is doing its best to make sure that corruption is prosecuted.
  18. I went to school in America. Everyone knows that Mafia runs the cemetery industry of Zimbabwe.
  19. Mostly railways are not built by government, they are built by investors.
  20. Governments have 7 Trillion under their control while private capital has over 90 trillion.
  21. We have never consumer cement at the scale at which we are consuming it.
  22. The transition in Zimbabwe will be smooth.
  23. In 1980 we allowed elections.
  24. The first liberation movement to allow elections.
  25. 2017, in the last days when they tried to morph into a family dynasty, we gave them a smooth transition.
  26. There were no deaths. This is the capacity of Zimbabwe to have smooth transition.
  27. One of the most loved institution is the Zimbabwe national Army.
  28. If I aspired to be the President of Zimbabwe I would not have gone to war. I am here because I survived the lottery of war.
  29. Being the President does not come into my mind. I am dedicated to what Zimbabwe can become.
  30. I have been the prime mover of some of the biggest investment projects in Zimbabwe.
  31. After Mnangagwa, I would like to see a President that does more than what Mnangagwa has done.
  32. I am out of the current government because I can achieve more that I can when I am inside the government.

Conclusion

ZANU PF is more concerned with exporting steel that using it in Zimbabwe.
