Former Citizens Coalition for Change legislature Fadzayi Mahere has questioned the absence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Fedrick Shava in the welcoming of Kenyan President William Ruto ahead of ZITF official opening.
This comes after controversial businessman Wicknell Chivhayo and President Mnangagwa’s twin sons welcomed Ruto.
Mahere questioned the involvement of non-state actors in a state visit, and expressed a need for new leadership in Zimbabwe.
“Where is the Minister of Foreign Affairs? Is this arrangement in line with official protocol? What justification is there for involving non-state actors in a state visit of this nature?
Does it not take away from the stature of dignitaries to go about a state visit in this way? If there is an explanation, kindly share it with us in the interests of transparency. We need new leaders.”, said Mahere.
