The Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) has announced the deployment of standby force in the republic of Niger.

Speaking after an emergency Ecowas summit in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria warned that “no option is taken off the tables including the use of force as the last resort”.

This move seeks to restore constitutional order in the following the coup which removed President Mohamed Bazoum and his government from power.

The military said President Mohamed Bazoum is a French puppet and has refused to restore his rule.

He is detained in a place without electricity or perishable food according to reports from local media.
