National Chiefs’ Council president Chief Fortune Charumbira says he will not be vying for reelection to retain his position as the leader of the national traditional chiefs’ organization.

The National Chiefs’ Council is meeting in Bulawayo on Thursday, to elect a new Chiefs’ Council president.

Chief Charumbira prevailed over Chief Neromwe (Mr Clemence Madzingo) of Zaka by an overwhelming vote of 27 to 7.

Meanwhile, Chief Mtshane Khumalo, the current deputy of Matabeleland North province, will automatically succeed Chief Charumbira, who has served two terms.
