Prominent journalist Hopewell Chin’ono has criticised ZANU PF for failing to have a clear election manifesto as the country heads into polls.

This comes after Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi said the party’s deeds rather than words were the manifesto.

Taking to social media, Hopewell said for the first time in the history of post colonial Zimbabwe, ZANUPF has no election manifesto, it has nothing to sell at all.

He said ZANU PF has nothing because it failed to fulfill anything from their previous manifesto in the 2018 elections.

He said:

For the first time in the history of post colonial Zimbabwe, ZANUPF has no election manifesto, it has nothing to sell at all. Why? It failed to fulfill anything from its previous manifesto. 2500 women are dying every year giving birth because there are no maternity theaters. The 2 biggest hospitals in Zimbabwe have no running water.

The biggest hospital in Zimbabwe only has ONE working maternity theater built by Ian Smith in 1977. There is no single working radiotherapy cancer treatment machine in the whole country. 95% of Zimbabwe’s potential workforce is out of work. Roads are potholed, it is like you are driving in a war zone where bombs fell on roads. Corruption is the worst at any given time of our country’s history.

Inflation is the highest in the world, and the local currency is moribund. We have political prisoners in jail. I can go on, but you get the drift! Why would anyone need a manifesto after violently taking power and then let the country sink to such an embarrassing level? Yes, ZANUPF’s failed corrupt rule is around us for anyone to see!
