Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has provided a statistical breakdown of female politicians participating in the upcoming general elections.

The nomination lists published by ZEC shows that the numbers at all levels of candidature decreased compared to statistics recorded in 2018.

There are no women contesting as presidential candidates, a significant decline from the four who contested in 2018.

70 women out of 637 candidates are contesting for 210 National Assembly seats, which is only 11% compared to 14.4 in 2018.
