President Emmerson Mnangagwa has come under fire for gazetting new law prohibiting the disclosure of public procurement.
Critics say the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act will keep details of some procurement processes from the public domain.
Writing on social media, Chin’ono said the new law should be vigorously opposed.
“It means that from today you have no right to know what has been bought and you won’t know. You also won’t know how much it has cost. You also won’t have a right to know who has supplied it to Government,” wrote Chin’ono.
The new law could lead to theft of public funds and lack of accountability.
