Zambian President, Hakainde Hichilema, has revealed that one soldier died during special forces training.
Hichilema wrote:
We were delighted and honoured to have officiated at the Special Forces Induction process in Mbala today.
The enlisted officers underwent a painstaking and thorough training to qualify as Special Forces Specialists but regrettably one life was lost during this rigours military exercise. We extended our heartfelt condolences to the family of the gallant officer.
We commended the Army Commander, the Special Forces Commander and the School Commandant for bringing out the best from these young officers who will now be deployed to various Special Forces Units.
We urged them to perform their duties to the best of their abilities as they carry out their mandate to preserve the sovereignty and defend the territorial integrity of the Republic of Zambia.
