An unidentified bomb exploded near the venue where Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa was set to hold a rally.
The explosive was thrown at Chamisa’s motorcade just before arrival at the venue in Chinhoyi.
Eye witnesses said, “a man in a silver Honda Fit dropped ‘something’ and a few minutes later it exploded. The driver sped away after the incident.”
Meanwhile, the CCC leader is safe. He was expected to address hundres of supporters at the thank you rally.
CCC won five out of the six local authority by elections in Chinhoyi’s Ward 2, 3, 8, 12 and 14.
