Below is HH’s full statement

We were joined by our brother and friend, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera President of Malawi, as well as the Governor of Tete – a representative of the President of Mozambique. We thanked our respective peoples for entrusting us with the responsibility to serve and that we shall serve them the best way we are able to.

In collaboration with traditional leaders, we are committed to investing in the people and region of Eastern province across infrastructure, agricultural production and other productive sectors, as we enhance service delivery to the people.

We have placed emphasis on the people’s enhanced CDF to equitably support local community development and allow people to determine their own developmental destiny across all parts of our country.

We echoed our unending drive to keep our children in school through our free education policy, while continuously improving their learning conditions by leveraging CDF to buy desks and build more classrooms.

It was a wonderful day in Katete experiencing our rich cultural heritage.

Hakainde Hichilema
President of the Republic of Zambia
