Research by the University of South Africa ‘s Youths Research Unit has found that more than 65% of South African children watch adult content on a daily basis and act out what they see.

Dr Antoinette Basson told City Press newspaper that the first encounter SA children have with adult content is accidental, for example when a pop up appears during a movie or on a website.

Due to curiosity, the children then start to explore further.

The research revealed that 10% of children watch it everyday while 55% watch occasionally, 35 watch adult content involving other children, 30% of the content has violence and 65% involving a man and a woman.

Children watch the content on their smart phones and most use wifi at school or public wifi.
