Ian Khama mocks Botswana’s ruling party for losing by-elections

Former Botswana President Ian Khama has mocked the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) after it lost by-elections to the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC).

Khama, took to social media to celebrate the result of the election in a video posted on his Facebook account.

In the video, a group of men can be seen dancing and Khama also thrashes a red t-shirt that was on the floor, symbolising beating the ruling BDP.

The UDC won the Moselewapula polling district with 339 votes, while the BDP finished last with 110 votes.

The UDC is a tripartite coalition of the Botswana National Front (BNF), Botswana People’s Party (BPP), and BCP which was formed ahead of the 2019 general elections.
