H-metro reports that ZANU PF Provincial Governor and resident minister of Mashonaland Central Martin Dinha allegedly shot himself while trying to fight armed robbers on Tuesday night.

Advocate Dinha shot himself on the thigh, during the attempted robbery, and the suspects ran away.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident, saying investigations have since begun.

Dinha was driving from Cresta Lodge, at around 10pm when two cars blocked him at an intersection.

One of the suspects produced an AK47 rifle and the other was armed with a machete. Advocate Dinha fired a warning shot however the two suspects attacked him.
