Twitter has won the first legal battle in its attempt to force Elon Musk to complete a $44bn (£36.7bn) takeover of the social media company.

Delaware Court of Chancery Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick ruled in Twitter’s favor on Tuesday.

The five-day trial will take place in October. Twitter is trying to force Musk to fulfill his April promise to buy the company for $44billion.

He wanted the date pushed back to February 2023.

Musk’s lawyer, Andrew Rossman argued the expedited timeline was far too aggressive for his team to review the massive data trove at Twitter.
