Former Botswana President Ian Khama met former South African President Kgalema Petrus Motlanthe in Italy.

Motlanthe is a South African politician who was third president between 2008 and 2009, following Thabo Mbeki’s resignation.

The two politicians attended the Brenthurst Foundation retreat at Cadenabbia on Lake Como.

Khama said the topic of the event is ‘Best Practice in Making Peace’, which is more relevant than ever given the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The event which is held annually in conjunction with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, will centre on the lessons from bringing peace to conflicts and their application particularly to conflict ridden parts of the world.
