Chatunga Bellarmine Mugabe has slammed the government for introducing electronically readable passports (e-passports) to replace the current passports in line with global trends.

Posting on twitter, Chatunga said the government should consider people who recently took passports with some of them partying ways with at least $318.

“People didn’t say havasikuda E-passport but why is the gvt not considering those who recently took passports some of them part ways with $318 a Monht some a week some few days ago only to be told that in 2 years time that passport will be invalid think about it”

The current passports will cease to be acceptable internationally by 31st December 2023 and will need to be replaced by the e-passport

Responding to Chatunga ZBC presenter Lee Ann Bernard praised the government’s initiative.

“Grace period is 2 years right ? For some of us who jet in and jet out periodically 2 years from now it will be exhausted”

An ordinary e-passport costs US$100, while an emergency e-passport will cost US$200.

Chatunga criticised Bernard for siding with the government over the masses leading to a heated arguement on twitter.

“So you only care about yourself ? I wonder why you always sing for a certain political party. you don’t care about the masses. YOU ARE SELFISH”, said Chatunga.
